Our visit to the InHabit-BuildScape Green Building
The first time we heard the words ‘green building’ intrigued us and we decided to visit this space which is also located in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. ‘InHabit-BuildScape’ is one of the first of its kind to understand and learn more about sustainable practices to be able to incorporate in our future endeavours.
Filtration of Waste Water
The filtration is done via a Decentralized Waste Water Treatment Plant, also called Bio STP.
A pump circulates the toilet water through a tank for about 63 minutes. There are about five hundred thousand earthworms inside the tank that consume the organic waste which helps clean the water. Plants that are grown on the side of the tank oxidise the water. After the water gets filtered, it gets poured into a small pool where fishes are surviving.
Solar Power
The roof of the building is completely made out of Solar Panels which supplies electricity to the entire building.
Fresh Air for the Employees
Using an Energy Recovery Ventilator, which sucks in fresh air from the outside and it mixes it with the chilled air-conditioned air, it delivers fresh air to the employees working inside the building.
